The second day that I am working on this film project. What I am doing at the moment is mainly getting into the mood of the film. In a way I try to enter the mind of the director, my aim is to create in the end an artwork that reflects in such a way the mood of the film, as if it was a film trailer, one dimensional, on canvas.
Der zweite Tag an dem ich an dem Filmprojekt weiterarbeite. Was ich im Moment mache ist, mich in die Stimmung des Films zu versetzen. Ich versuche gewissermaßen in das Wesen des Regisseurs einzudringen, mein Ziel ist es letztendlich ein Werk zu schaffen, das wie ein Trailer die Stimmung des Films wiederspiegelt, nur eindimensional und auf der Leinwand.

Last week I was approached by the film director Marc R. Wilkins. He asked me if I could paint a painting to be used for the poster for his new film. I very much liked the idea, as it brings me back to the very beginning of my life as a painter. It was in the late 80s, at a small theatre and drama school in south London, that I started to make the posters for the performances at that school, all very low budget because the only way to produce them was through black and white photocopies. I did not know at that time that I was to become a painter, but it was here where it all started. Back to now, during this week I will produce a variety of ideas for a then larger work for the film poster.
Letzte Woche sprach mich der Regisseur Marc R. Wilkins an ob ich ein Bild das er für das Plakat seine neuen Films verwenden will, malen könnte. Die Idee gefiel mir sehr da sie mich an meine Uranfänge als Maler erinnert. Es war in den späten achtziger Jahren an einem kleinen Theater mit Schauspielschule in Südlondon als ich die Poster für die Aufführungen an der Schule machte, alles mit einem ganz knappen Budget da die einzige Möglichkeit die Plakate zu vervielfältigen damals s/w Fotokopien waren. Zu dieser Zeit wusste ich noch nicht, daß ich einmal Maler werden würde, aber es war letztendlich hier wo alles begann. Aber zurück zum Heute, in dieser Woche werde ich eine Anzahl an Ideen für ein späteres größeres Bild für das Filmplakat malen.

It all started with an e-mail that I got this morning. A lady asked me whether I still had paintings from the Weinbergspark. Well, those I painted for this blog are sold already, but I remembered that I did a larger painting a few years ago in the Weinbergspark, so I went into the upstairs room of my studio to look for it, and, after having found it, I also came across an old sketchbook of mine, with sketches I made in Paris over 10 years ago, so I choose this motif to work it into a daily painting, I cannot even remember, where it is, I only know: it is somewhere in Paris.
Es begann alles mit einer E-mail, die ich heute morgen bekam. Eine Dame fragte an ob ich noch Bilder vom Weinbergspark hier in Berlin hätte. Die ich für den blog gemalt habe sind bereits verkauft doch ich erinnerte mich an ein größeres Bild, das ich vor ein paar Jahren im Weinbergsparkg gemalt hatt. So stieg ich also in den oberen Raum meines Ateliers und suchte dieses Bild, ich fand es und stieß auch auf eines meiner alten Skizzenbücher mit Skizzen die ich vor mehr als zehn Jahren in Paris machte. Ich wählte daraus das heutige Motiv, ich kann mich nicht mehr erinner wo genau das ist, ich weiß nur: es ist irgendwo in Paris.
