Ich hörte die Nachrichten heute Morgen, und schaute aus dem Fenster, es regnete, und dachte mir, das ist mir jetzt alles Egal, ich male heute ein Sommerbild.
I listend to the news this morning, and looked out of the window into the rain, and thought to myself, I don’t care, I’m painting a summer picture today.

Der Blick in die Dorotheenstrasse, noch ein kurzes Aufleuchten der untergehenden Sonne, die alles noch einmal verwandelt in eine fast Abstrakte Kulisse, aus Schatten und warmen Licht, und einem ganz vergessen lässt, das das hier ein Risikogebiet ist. Wieder.
The view of Dorotheenstrasse, a short flash of the setting sun, which transforms everything again into an almost abstract backdrop, made of shadows and warm light, and makes you almost forget that this is a risk area. Again.

Ganz Berlin zählt jetzt als Corona Risikogebiet. Aber das Licht ist immer noch gleichbleibend schön, und macht Hoffnung das irgendwann einmal, der ganze schreckliche Spuk wieder vorbei sein wird…
All of Berlin is now a Corona risk area. But the light is still consistently beautiful and gives hope that at some point this whole terrible episode will be over again…

Und was für ein andere Blick heute Morgen, im Vergleich zu Gestern. Die Sonne wäre so weit, die Welt aber sagt „ich möchte aber noch ein wenig schlafen, unter meiner Decke, gewebt aus Nebel und grauem Gold“
And what a different view this morning compared to yesterdays. The sun would be ready, but the world says „please, I would like to sleep a little longer“ snuggling under a blanket, woven from fog and gray gold.

Nur ein kleiner Nadelkopf am Horizont, nicht viel größer als die weissen Blüten im Vordergrund. Aber ein ganzes Farben Orchester mitgebracht. Die Sonne erhebt sich zu einem neuen Tag.
Just a tiny needle head on the horizon, not much larger than the white flowers in the foreground. But with it a whole orchestra of colours. The sun rises to a new day.

Bevor ich den Tag beginne, und anfange zu arbeiten, verweile ich oft hier noch am Fluss, von hier sind es ja nur ein paar wenige Meter zu meiner Werkstatt. Und oft nehme ich den Blick von hier gleich mit mir, und male ihn.
Before I start my days work, I often stay here by the river, from here it’s only a few meters to my studio. And often I take the view with me from here, and paint it.
