Bergfest

Als ich das erste mal den Begriff „Bergfest“ hörte, wunderte ich mich darüber. Befand ich mich doch in einer Gegend, in dem die höchsten Erderhebungen entweder Maulwurfshügel, oder Deiche sind, aber kein Berg weit und breit zu finden war. Schon bekam ich aber die einleuchtende Erklärung das damit das erreichen der Mitte der Woche gemeint ist, und das das ordentlich gefeiert werden muss.
When I first heard the term „mountain festival“, I was a bit puzzled. Did I find myself in an area where the highest elevations are either molehills or dykes, but no mountain was to be found far and wide. But I soon got the plausible explanation that this means reaching the middle of the week, and that it has to be celebrated properly. You know it makes sense.
