As I saw this man in the morning in deep thoughts reflecting whatever was on his mind, while the ever moving water of the river below him played its ancient melody, it struck me as the motive for the day. His whole gestalt reflected so much my own mood at the moment that I had no doubt that this was my painting of the day.
Als ich diesen Mann heute morgen sah, tief in Gedanken versunken, darüber reflektierend was auch immer ihm durch den Kopf ging, während das stetig fließende Wasser des Flusses seine ewige Melodie dazu spielte, war das Motiv für heute gefunden. Seine ganze Gestalt spiegelte so sehr meine eigene Gemütsverfassung im Moment wieder, daß ich gar keinen Zweifel hatte, daß dies mein Bild des Tages ist.
