Doorway to my Studio

Its a rather gloomy business this doorway to my studio. It surely has seen better days, and in this time of year its hardly the entrance to the Ritz Hotel, but only one door needs to open, a bit of light coming from somewhere, and the whole scene changes, you hear songs and laughter, suddenly the dreary becomes dramatic, the unusable becomes promising, light, light, its such a magic force.
Ziemlich trist sieht er aus, der Hauseingang der zu meinem Atelier führt. Das ganze Gebäude hat schon bessere Tage gesehen, und der Eingang ist nun wirklich gerade zu dieser Jahreszeit nicht das Entrée ins Ritz Hotel, aber es muss sich nur eine Tür öffnen, etwas Licht sich hereinstehlen und die ganze Szene verändert sich schlagartig. Man hört von irgendwo Musik und Gelächter, auf einmal wird die Tristesse dramatisch, das eigentlich Abschreckende, Unbenutzbare wird vielversprechend, Licht und nochmals Licht – es ist so eine magische Kraft.
