One of my favoured themes to paint, people at work. Here are two cooks, at my friend´s fish restaurant.

Today´s blog painting shows my favoured tools, my paints, the best paints I know from a company called Old Holland, a manufacturer producing the highest standards of artists oil paints for over 360 years. It´s a real privilege to work with them.
Das heutige blog painting zeigt mein bevorzugtes Werkzeug, meine Farben, die besten Farben, die ich kenne – von der Firma Old Holland, einer Manufaktur die beste Qualität an Künstleroelfarben schon seit 360 Jahren herstellt. Es ist ein wirkliches Privileg mit diesen Farben arbeiten zu können.

When starting to paint an object made of glass, I am always overwhelmed with the impossibility of that task. As long as I think of the object as an object, a glass, a bottle etc. the mission seems impossible. Only when I start to look, and stop to think, when I start to analyse different shades, colours, reflections, it becomes possible to start to paint. Often I will be asked, what is the most difficult object to be painted. Actually there is no such thing as THE most difficult object, those preconceived ideas are only borders made by our brain, the reception and curiosity of the eye is always the same, the painting process only a way to record that experience. Everything the eye can see, can be painted, its as simple as that. When after this painting process, this object of glass appears like magic, consisting only of colours and forms, I always experience this rush of adrenalin, well its anyway a good alternative to bungeejumping, and much safer.
Jedesmal wenn ich vor der Aufgabe stehe, ein Objekt welches aus Glas ist zu malen, verzage ich vor der eigentlichen Unmöglichkeit dieser Aufgabe. Wenn ich aber beginne zu schauen, und zu denken aufhöre, wenn ich die verschiedenen Farben, Formen, Reflektionen anfange zu analysieren, dann kann der Malprozess beginnen. Oft werde ich gefragt was am schwersten zu malen ist, welches Objekt, aber eigentlich gibt es das gar nicht diese Abstufung zwischen leicht und schwer, das ist ein Vorurteil das unser Gehirn uns vortäuscht. Die Neugierde des Auges ist immer dieselbe, was das Auge sehen kann kann man auch malen, so einfach ist das. Wenn ich dann nachdem ich untergetaucht bin in die Welt der Formen und Farben, wie durch Magie so ein gläserner Gegenstand in meinem Bild erscheint, durchläuft mich immer ein Adrenalinschub, eine gute Alternative also zum bunjeejumping, und viel sicherer.

I am always fascinated by the lights at night. Some places in town look like film sets. Everything changes through the lights, the seeable becomes mellowed, the unseeabel becomes mystic.

I find it sometimes more intresting to watch people in galleries (which I visit very seldom) in front of pictures, than the actual paintings.
Ich finde es oft intressanter die Menschen, die sich Bilder in Galerien ansehen zu beobachten, als die eigentlichen Bilder (ich gehe aber auch nur sehr selten in Galerien).
