Just in time

Ich finde das immer noch etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig mit der Nächtlichen Ausgangssperre. Nicht weil ich die Notwendigkeit dazu nicht verstehen würde, sondern aus dem einfachen Grund, da ich eine Nacht Eule bin. Würde diese Ausgangssperre zum Beispiel erst viel später beginnen, aber dafür bis 9 oder 10 Uhr in der Früh anhalten, wäre sie mir wahrscheinlich noch gar nicht aufgefallen. Aber das ist alles nicht so schlimm, bleibe ich in meinem Atelier, und zur Not übernachte ich da dann auch. ( ich hoffe nur nicht das irgendwann eimal mir das als Vermischung von Privat und Geschäftlichen vorgeworfen wird. Und nebenbei bemerkt, eigentlich sind die Maler und Künstler die Erfinder vom Home Office gewesen, schon weit lang vor dieser Pandemie, aber das ist eine andere Geschichte)

I am still not quite used to this nightly curfew. Not because I don’t understand the need to do so, but for the simple reason that I’m a night bird. If this curfew started much later, but lasted until 9 or 10 in the morning, I would probably not have noticed it at all. But never mind, I stay in my studio and, if necessary, I will spend the night there too. (I just hope that at some point in the future, I will not be accused of mixing private and business. And incidentally, the painters and artists were actually the inventors of the home office, long before this pandemic, but that’s another story)

Das geht

Gesten Abend wäre ich gerne ans Meer gefahren, und hätte dem großem Mond zugeschaut, wie er so fast ins Wasser fällt. Aber das geht ja im Moment nicht, wegen der nächtlichen Ausgangssperre, wie so vieles nicht geht. So habe ich mir diesen Besuch am Meer einfach vorgestellt und gemalt. Und das fand ich dan irgendwie beruhigend, das das geht. Nachdenken über die eigene Befindlichkeit. Und dann stellte ich mir wieder das ganze Leid vor was diese Seuche (ich finde den Ausdruck „Virus“ ja viel zu nett) bisher angerichtet hat, und dachte mir, schade das man das nicht einfach so wegmalen kann. Aber das, das geht leider nicht.

Last night I would have liked to go to the sea and watch the big moon almost fall into the water. But that is not possible at the moment, because of the nightly curfew. So I just imagined this visit to the sea, and painted it. And I found that somehow quite reassuring that it worked. So much for thinking about your own well-being. And then I imagined all the suffering that this epidemic has caused so far, and thought to myself, it’s a shame that you can’t just paint it away. But that, unfortunately just doesn’t work like that.
