Diesen Sommer war ich zu einer Hochzeit auf dem Land eingeladen. Die kirchliche Trauung fand im Freien statt. Der Altar bestand aus zwei Heuballen, und die Säulen der Kirche waren die Stämme alter Eichen. Das bunte Licht aus den Kirchenfenstern war das Sonnenlicht, das durch die Blätter gefiltert wurde. Der Chor wurde durch Vogelgezwitscher ersetzt, und der Klang der Orgel war das Pfeifen eines fernen Zuges. Alles in allem ein wunderschöner Ort für eine Hochzeit.
This summer, I was invited to a wedding in the countryside. The church ceremony took place outdoors. The altar was made of two bales of hay, and the church’s pillars were the trunks of ancient oak trees. The colourful light from the church windows was sunlight filtered through the leaves. The choir was replaced by birdsong, and the sound of the organ was the whistle of a distant train passing. All in all, a happy place for a wedding.
